How We Got Started
We have been there from the beginning—side-by-side with other parents, sports fans, and outdoor warriors—sticking it out, no matter what. We know how important it is to show up and be there, regardless of the morning forecast, supporting your family at work or play. We also know that if you’re cold, wet, and miserable, those memorable moments and work days aren’t as magical as they should be. Our company was founded on finding a solution, one that was functional, durable, and easy to use. That’s how the idea for a pop-up WeatherPod® was born.
We worked tirelessly on it, built our design, tested it over and over, improved it, and finally created the first-ever WeatherPod in 2010. Over the years, we’ve created a vast collection of Pods because we’ve realized that each use case is different. Our Pods are used in all kinds of settings and for many different activities—we believe that everyone deserves on-the-spot comfort and weather relief.
Founding Team
Our customers are our biggest supporters, and they have helped us shape who we are, what we design, and what we stand for. Since the beginning, they’re woven into our story—and we’re devoted to helping them be there for the people and events that matter the most.
Rick Pescovitz
Rick is the inventor of the original WeatherPod, which he designed in 2010. He is a perfectionist as he’s never satisfied with shortcuts or rushed solutions, and makes no compromises with the quality of UTW’s Pods. Having 30 years of experience in the textile industry has helped him take UTW to the next level—and he’s always looking for ways to improve and build better Pods, including the coming-soon MegaMesh™.
Kelly Mahan
Kelly, Rick’s wife, is passionate about planning, managing, and maintaining order—which is a must in any business. Before devoting herself to UTW, she led a successful marketing firm. Drawing from her marketing experience, she has helped shape the UTW brand and manage the company’s growth plan. Rick and Kelly's three children, who are passionate about anything outdoors and sports-related, formed the inspiration behind UTW's Pods and continue to be an inspiration to their company's vision today.
