Set Up and Maintenance

What’s the first thing I should do when my WeatherPod® Pop-Up Pod is delivered?

It is normal for the Pod to be a little stiff from being packaged, stored and shipped. We recommend the following:

  • Remove the Pod from its carry case, pop it open, and sit it in the sun to air it out. The heat from the sun will also help loosen up the plastic and zippers.
  • Unzip the doors and/or windows partially. The zippers may be stiff because they are new and unused. Zip them open and shut a few times to loosen them up.
  • HINT: When using the zippers, especially around the tight corners, pinch the plastic on either side of the zipper to minimize the tension on the zipper and zipper pull.
  • Sometimes the wires may flip when packaged. Watch this video on how to untwist a memory wire.
One of the Pod wires is shaped like an “S”. Should I straighten it?

Yes. Our Pods' patented one-piece design features memory wires that pop open and fold quickly. It’s normal for a new Pod to feel a little stiff and for the wires to flip when they are packaged, stored, or shipped.

Once your Pod is delivered, we recommend you open your Pod, lay it flat, and check the wires. If a wire isn't flat or appears flipped (typically an “S” shape), use your hand or foot and step or push against it firmly to flatten it. When the Pod is fully open, do a quick check to ensure the wires are all straight, untwisting them by hand if necessary.

HINT: When folding the Pod, zip the front panel completely closed and leave the two side panels partially unzipped (at the top or bottom). This will help create the tension needed to ensure panels and wires fold flat and straight. Watch this video for how to untwist a memory wire.

What do I do if the zippers seem stiff?

New zippers trend to be stiff, especially around the corners, but they will loosen up with regular use. If the zipper separates slightly, hold the Pod firmly and pull the zipper up and down, along the straight side, a few times. The zipper typically re-connects and is completely functional.

HINT: Pinching the plastic on either side of the zippers makes zipping and unzipping easier, particularly around the corners where there’s more tension on the zipper and zipper pull.

Why are there creases in the plastic?

It's normal for the clear plastic panels to arrive with creases from being packaged, stored, and shipped. Set your Pod up in the sun for a few hours. The heat from the sun, as well as regular use, will help reduce creases.

Can I use my Pod on surfaces other than grass?

We discourage using our Pods on rough surfaces, such as dragging the Pod across cement or gravel, since the friction can cause tears and holes in the Pod’s floor. The Pod should also be emptied of heavier objects like chairs, backpacks, and coolers before you move it around. We also recommend adding a layer of padding beneath the Pod floor, such as an old blanket, if the Pod is used on a rough surface.

NOTE: Pods with tears in the floor resulting from use on concrete or asphalt are not covered by our warranty. 

How do I clean my Pod?

To clean your pop-up Pod you should use a soft brush, microfiber wipe or chammy with warm soapy water to wipe down the zippered panels, oxford polyester fabric and tent floor. Let the Pod air dry. Do not place it in a washing machine or dryer.

If you use your Pod for social distancing, we recommend leaving the Pod outside after use and disinfecting it according to CDC guidelines at CDC.gov.

What should I use keep the plastic panels on my pop-up Pod clean and clear?

The plastic windows on a the pop-up Pods are easy to clean. Dampen a clean washcloth with water and gently wipe both sides of the windows. Then dry the windows with a lint-free cloth or microfiber towel to avoid streaks.

Can I heat my pop-up Pod?

NO! This is a potential safety hazard. Our Pods are designed to keep you up to 35° warmer inside than out, naturally. We also sell waterproof polar fleece throw blankets for added warmth and protection from the cold.

DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF HEATING DEVICE in or near our Pods. This is a potential safety hazard.

  • Do not use matches, candles, heaters or allow open flames of any kind in or near a your Pod.
  • Do not smoke in or near the Pod.
Can I store my pop-up Pod in its case if it is wet?

WeatherPod® Pop-Up Pods can be folded and placed in their carry case for a few hours after being exposed to wet conditions, for example, the drive home from a distant tournament or stopping at the store to do some shopping. 

Storing a wet Pod in its case for more than 24 hours is not recommended. Open the wet or damp Pod and let it air out and dry thoroughly before returning it to its carry case for longer-term storage.

Health & Safety Measures

Does my pop-up Pod also protect me from germs?

While our Pods can provide a temporary barrier and some peace of mind, WeatherPod® makes no guarantee of non-transmission for any of its products.

During uncertain times, we do advise taking additional steps to sanitize your Pod, inside and out, after each use and avoid risk of viral infections.

  • You can use your Pod while you’re out and about to practice social distancing.
  • Keep the Pod zipped whenever possible. Wear face covers and gloves.
  • Clean and disinfect all Pod surfaces, inside and out, immediately after each use.
  • Apply disinfectants that contain alcohol, bleach or hydrogen peroxide. See CDC guidelines for details.
  • Avoid touching your face and wash your hands, or use sanitizer, immediately.
What else should I know about using my pop-up Pod?

Do not leave children or pets unattended in the pop-up Pod.

Do not use matches, candles, heaters or allow open flames of any kind in or near the pop-up Pod.

Do not smoke in or near the Pod.

WeatherPod® pop-up Pods with wire damage due to improper care and/or folding are not eligible for a refund or exchange.

Pods left unattended in windy conditions, even when staked, must be weighted down in order to ensure they don’t blow over.

Pods that have floor damage due to being dragged across rough surfaces are ineligible for our warranty.

Product Information

Can I customize or put a logo on my pop-up Pod?

Yes, you can customize our Pods with roof covers available in multicolor patterns or a variety of solid colors (sold separately).

You can also add custom text (choose from a wide range of colors, up to 20 letters/characters on 2 sides). 

Customization doesn't include adding a logo to roofs at this time.

Can I get a bug-screen for my Pod with plastic zippered panels?

It depends on the style of Pod. Some of our pop up Pods include both mesh screens and cold-treated panels so they can be used year-round.

Our bug-screen Pods have fine-gauge mesh screens instead of plastic panels for use in warm, sunny climates and bug-prone areas like campgrounds, lakes, and waterfronts.

We also offer a bug-screen insert for our 35x35 1-person Pods with plastic and tinted panels.

Do you offer a pop-up Pod that accommodates a stroller or wheelchair?

Most of our multi-person Pods are large enough to fit a stroller or average-size wheelchair (be sure to measure the floor space required before purchase).

Do all your pop-up Pods hold more than 1 person?

We sell 1-person and multi-person Pods in a variety of sizes and capacities. All of our Pods are large enough for a standard or large folding sport chair. We also offer a number of 2-person, 3-4 person and 4-6 person pop--up Pods as well as our supersized dome tents for entertaining.

HINT: Nowadays, folding sport and camp chairs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including rockers and recliners. Be sure to check the floor dimensions of the Pod you’re interested in under the “Specifications” tab on the product page.

Are there different Pod colors to choose from?

Yes, many of our Pods come in several colors and styles depending on the model. Each product page provides a list of colors (swatches) available for that Pod style. Colors are subject to availability.

Do you offer a discount for bulk or larger quantity orders?

We do not offer discounts for bulk orders; however, we can save you money on the shipping cost per Pod if you ship several Pods to the same location. Contact support@utwpods.com for details.

Do you sell to wholesalers?

We do not sell to wholesalers. We do offer shipping discounts on orders of 18 or more. Please contact us at support@utwpods.com for more details.

HiDow Powered Muscle Stimulation Devices

I'm intrigued. What exactly is a Muscle Stimulation device?

If you’re limited from physical activities, and you’re constantly suffering from sore muscles you're not alone.

So how are HiDow Muscle Stimulation devices different from other pulse massagers?

HiDow Muscle Stimulator devices use both TENS and EMS modes to target different nerve groups in the body. TENS and EMS modes have different indications for use.

  • TENS targets sensory nerves and will temporarily relieve pain.
  • EMS targets the muscle itself through the motor nerves and will improve and facilitate muscle performance.

Sensory and motor nerves fire at different frequencies, which is why EMS and TENS devices affect the body differently.

What are the benefits of TENS technology?

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a pain relief therapy that uses a low-voltage electrical current to stimulate sensory nerves and suppress pain signals that are being sent to the brain. By applying the TENS stimulus to a pain area, the brain will sense short-term relief instead of the pain.

The benefits or TENS are:

  • Short-term pain relief
  • Promotes blood circulation
  • Promotes natural healing in the body
  • Stimulates the production of endorphins, our bodies’ natural painkillers
What are the benefits of EMS technology?

Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is also known as “NEMS” or Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation. EMS uses a slightly stronger current than TENS to get muscles to contract. These impulses mimic the same action potential coming from the central nervous system during physical activity. This can improve muscle strength and function.

The benefits of EMS technology:

  • Increase in muscular performance
  • Promotes muscle recovery
  • Reduces pain
  • Promotes blood flow
What is Microcurrent Therapy?

Microcurrent is the use of very low-frequency impulses that bypass many of the sensory nerves EMS and TENS often hit. The current is designed to match a similar amount of electrical activity already present during natural cell activity.

Is TENS and EMS safe?

It is safe for most people to use TENS/EMS. However, the electrical impulses that a TENS/EMS unit produces may cause a buzzing, tingling, or prickling sensation, which some people may find uncomfortable. On very rare occasions, an electrical current will be too intense for a patient, causing burning or irritation on the skin.

Contraindications:
DO NOT use the device if you have any of the following medical conditions:

  • An implanted cardiac pacemaker, defibrillator, or other implanted metallic or electronic device.
  • Are pregnant.
  • Have epilepsy.

It is recommended that you consult your medical practitioner before use if you:

  • Have been diagnosed with cancer.
  • Have suffered acute trauma or a recent surgical procedure.
  • Have cardiac problems or cardiac disease.
  • Have an abdominal hernia.
  • Have venous thrombosis.

The device is intended for use by adults. Use on children is possible, but should only occur with adult supervision.

Warnings:

  • Stimulation should not be applied directly over the heart, on the neck area, or on the temples.
  • Apply the electrode pads only to normal, intact, clean skin.
  • Do not apply over open wounds or over swollen or infected areas.
  • Never use the device while driving, operating machinery, or during activities in which involuntary muscle contractions may endanger yourself or others.
  • Never immerse the device in any liquid.
  • Never use the device while sleeping.
  • This device should only be used with the accessories provided by the manufacturer.

Adverse Reactions:
If you experience skin irritations or any other adverse reactions then treatment should be stopped immediately. You should consult with your medical practitioner about further use of the device.

What is the warranty on HiDow products and accessories?

To register your HiDow device, go to the “Device Registration Page” and fill out the Registration Form.
Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with all your information.

HiDow devices and accessories purchased at our online store must be returned directly to Weatherpod®.

The HiDow 2-year standard warranty will be in effect from the date of purchase on your Weatherpod® order form.

The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for 2 years from the original end-user purchaser’s date of retail purchase (“Warranty Period”).

If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, HiDow will either repair the defective unit or exchange the product with a new product that has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts.

Other important terms:

  • Parts of consumable nature, such as pads, wires, and cables, are not covered under warranty.
  • Your device will be replaced with the same model you originally purchased or an equivalent.
  • A nominal processing fee may apply to all warranty claims.
  • The Manufacturer’s warranty applies to the US and Canada only.

How long does it take to ship/receive my order?

We ship orders Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Ground shipments are processed and dispatched in 3-5 business days. Expedited orders placed after 1:00 PM (ET) will be processed the following business day. Holidays may affect processing schedule.

Transit time depends on your location and we ship from our warehouse in Cincinnati, Ohio. Most shipments arrive within 5-7 business days.

What is the warranty on my WeatherPod® pop-up Pod?

All products purchased directly through WeatherPod® have a 90-day warranty against manufacturer defects. These warranties do not apply to any defect, failure, or damage caused by improper use such as folding and storage, or improper or inadequate maintenance and care. WeatherPod® will provide a return shipping label.

  • Items NOT covered under warranty include but are not limited to:
  • Wire damage caused by improper folding
  • Damage caused by use on pavement, asphalt, gravel, etc.
  • Damage caused by improper storage
  • Damage or odor caused by tobacco products
  • Damage caused by pets
